GPS synchronisation antenna

Type GPS-ANT-BT
Technical specifications

Description:

  • All over the world, time synchronisation can be ensured via a network of 24 satellites part of the GPS system. This synchronisation system has been designed by the American Army to provide the precise time and also give the exact position of an object or individual on the globe. This enables GPS synchronisation to be used without restriction anywhere in the world.
  • The concept is very simple: 24 geostationary satellites send the UTC time signal to the Earth. The GPS antenna receives a message every second (time + date) and decodes it for the master clock. The master clock receiving the UTC message (GMT) must be configurable to adapt the UTC time to local time (time
  • difference and introduction of summer/winter time changeover for the country if necessary). The time setting of receiver clocks is fully automatic. The time precision of the GPS signal is approx. ± 1 ms. If GPS reception is suspended for a certain time, the master clock maintains its internal accuracy (approx. 0.2 sec/day)
  • The GPS antenna is connected to the master clock by a standard 2 pair telephone cable: 2 wires RS485 + 2 power wires. The maximum cable distance between the master clock and the GPS antenna is 100 metres.
  • The GPS antenna must be installed outside or near a window in order to have an unobstructed view of the sky.
  • To be used together with BT series master clocks.
  • The antenna delivers every second the time message ZDA then GGA
  • Horizontal and outdoor installation on the roof or on a mast
  • Possibility to install the antenna behind a window or under a plastic roof
  • Cable is 4 wires section 0.6 mm², a 20 m cable is provided with the antenna
  • Possibility to extend the cable length up to 100 meters (at 15 V DC power supply)
  • Operation:
  • A yellow LED indicates the operation of the antenna.
  • The LED flashes every second when the antenna is synchronised.
  • The LED remains on when the antenna is not synchronised.
  • The LED is off, if the antenna is not supplied with power.
  • The LED is visible from under.
